This year the Green Climate Fund (GCF) is launching the first Green Champions awards to recognise and promote the most noteworthy and successful efforts to combat climate change.
The first GCF Green Champions awards recognise outstanding INDIVIDUALS and ORGANISATIONS driving climate transformation. The awards promote initiatives that stand as examples of environmental, social and business-led commitments of climate action. This includes activities limiting or reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage adaptation to climate impacts.
The award winners were originally intended to be announced at the scheduled COP25 in Santiago. The recent decision by the Government of Chile that it will be unable to host COP25 means that we are now looking for alternative ways of announcing our first Green Champions. Please check here for updates.
GCF is the world’s largest climate change fund. It was established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010 to finance climate action in developing countries. See here for more details about GCF.
